This Web 2 widget was designed to run with a competition API set up by youtube and footlocker. The user would take a video about sneekers (er trainers init) and upload using the normal youtube uploader.

Serious Strategy !

this was done via a new browser window and a link saving a huge amout of coding and bug free upload. This is smart and a good example of product strategy we could for example have invested time in building a custom uploader to work with youtube's API and upload via this interface. And that would be the only advantage, however the complexity this adds is more than 2 fold as authentication comes into play and various other server side requirments to talk to the you tube API.

The Competition is Over !

As the competition is over the API is no longer running to take stock of the video and show results etc, so that means some of the functionality is lost and you may get errors in the application below. Also initially a grid of trainers should show but due to there being no product feeds either it is blank. If I ever get the time I might take the 30 minutes to create some fake thumbs and link through. This grid in fact is what is interesting to footlocker as then they can actually make money. The competition brings the kids and then they click out on the trainers in theory.
